historic building repair and conservation

Building Trust with high Quality work

Building Trust with high Quality work Building Trust with high Quality work Building Trust with high Quality work
call or email to discuss the best approach to repairs or conservation works on your building

What we do

 - Traditional lime pointing, mortars, plaster and render - using hydraulic lime, lime putty and sometimes 'hot lime' or natural cement

- Structural repair and conservation of stone, brick, timber and plaster; building ornament, decorative ceilings, statuary and fireplaces

- Replacement or toning-in of old cement and unsightly repairs

- Damp mitigation works using breathable materials inside and outside the building

- Specialist decoration and breathable paint finishes including limewash and exterior silicate paints, distemper, casein paint, claypaint and permeable emulsion; and eggshell, oil and water-based paint finishes on wood

We can offer advice on a suitable programme of work, aiming to predict and itemise costs - and minimise disruption (and unwelcome surprises!).

As a matter of routine we update the client on progress and photograph and record all works, and can provide Method Statements (and written Reports), all of which usually helps with listed building consents.

(In some cases works are permitted without formal planning on a 'like for like' basis, when using appropriate materials and especially in cases of urgent repair)
